Yes! At Aviation Academy Scotland, we welcome students who have started their training elsewhere and want to transfer to our academy. Whether you’re looking for better aircraft, more structured training, or a flexible payment model, we make the transition as smooth as possible.

1. Transferring Your Flight Hours

Your previously logged flight hours may count toward your licence requirements, depending on:

  • The type of training you have completed.

  • Whether your training was conducted under EASA, UK CAA, or another regulatory authority.

  • If your training records are properly documented and meet CAA requirements.

We will review your flight logbook and training history to determine how much of your prior training can be credited toward your Private Pilot Licence (PPL), Commercial Pilot Pathway, or other courses.

2. Why Transfer to Aviation Academy Scotland?

Many students transfer to us because they are seeking:

  • Training on modern aircraft – Our Elixir aircraft with full glass cockpit avionics provide a more relevant training experience for modern airline operations.

  • A flexible Pay As You Train model – Unlike many schools that require large upfront payments, we allow you to pay as you go.

  • Better instructor availability – Some students come from schools with long waiting lists or inconsistent lesson availability.

  • A structured pathway to commercial flying – Our partnership with Aeros Flight Training provides a clear route to multi-engine and airline preparation courses.

3. Steps to Transfer Your Training

  1. Submit Your Training Records – Provide us with your logbook, training syllabus, and any certifications.

  2. Book an Assessment Flight – We will evaluate your current skill level and discuss your best options for continuing training.

  3. Get a Personalised Training Plan – Based on your experience, we’ll create a tailored program that ensures a seamless transition.

4. Can I Transfer Midway Through My Commercial Pilot Training?

Yes! Many students transfer during hour-building phases, ATPL theory, or before advanced training (MEP, CB-IR, CPL, etc.). We ensure that your prior training is recognised and that you can pick up from where you left off.

5. What If My Previous Flight School Won’t Release My Records?

Some training providers make it difficult to transfer by withholding training records, especially if you’ve paid upfront. If you’re concerned about this, speak with us—we can help you explore options to verify your training independently.

6. How to Start Your Transfer

If you’re considering transferring to Aviation Academy Scotland, the first step is to speak with our team. We’ll review your situation and guide you through the process to ensure a smooth transition.
