At Aviation Academy Scotland, we believe that training on modern, high-performance aircraft gives our students the best possible foundation for their aviation careers. We are proud to offer 100% of our training on the Elixir aircraft, with commercial training stages at Aeros Flight Training using Diamond DA42, DA40s, and Alsim simulators. Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) is conducted in a Grob 115D.
1. Primary Training Aircraft – Elixir
All flight training at Aviation Academy Scotland is conducted on the Elixir aircraft, offering:
A full glass cockpit from day one, preparing you for modern commercial aviation.
Safer, more reliable training, thanks to its modern design and advanced safety features.
Efficient, fuel-conscious operations, reducing environmental impact and training costs.
This ensures that from your very first flight, you are training in an aircraft that is designed for the future of aviation.
2. Commercial Training Aircraft at Aeros Flight Training
When you progress to the advanced commercial phases of training at Aeros Flight Training, you will fly:
Diamond DA42 (multi-engine training) – A modern twin-engine aircraft used for advanced flight training.
Diamond DA40 (single-engine instrument training) – Equipped with glass cockpit avionics, similar to airline aircraft.
Alsim Simulators – Used for instrument rating (IR) training and multi-crew coordination exercises.
This fleet ensures that you transition seamlessly from training aircraft to modern airliners.
3. Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) – Grob 115D
During UPRT training, which prepares you for handling in-flight upsets and emergency situations, you will fly the Grob 115D. This aircraft is ideal for high-performance maneuvering and learning how to recover from unusual attitudes safely.
4. Aircraft Availability and Operational Changes
While our core fleet consists of the aircraft listed above, there may be instances where we need to adjust aircraft types for operational reasons. If this occurs, we will always:
Communicate any changes in advance.
Ensure the replacement aircraft meets the same high standards for safety and training.
Maintain the highest level of training quality regardless of aircraft type.
Why This Matters to You
Unlike many flight schools still using 40+ year-old aircraft, training with us means you are flying cutting-edge aircraft from day one, ensuring a smoother transition to airline environments.
