The PPL Consolidation module is the first phase of structured hour building following the completion of the Private Pilot Licence (PPL). This phase consists of 25 hours of solo flight time, designed to reinforce and refine the skills learned during the PPL course. The focus is on enhancing confidence, improving decision-making, and preparing for more advanced flight training.

Objectives

  • Encourage independent flight planning and execution

  • Reinforce navigation skills, including cross-country flying

  • Enhance confidence in handling aircraft in different conditions

  • Practise emergency procedures without instructor guidance

  • Develop efficient decision-making and airmanship

Entry Requirements

  • Hold a valid UK CAA Private Pilot Licence (PPL)

  • Hold a Class 2 Medical Certificate

Training Breakdown

Flight Experience (25 Solo Hours)

  • Cross-Country Flights

    • Planning and executing solo navigation exercises

    • Experience flying to different airfields to build confidence in various operational environments

    • Practise using flight planning tools such as SkyDemon or traditional navigation charts

      Aircraft Handling & Performance

    • Practising short-field and soft-field take-offs and landings

    • Exploring different weight and balance scenarios

    • Adjusting flight performance to varying weather conditions

      Radio Communications & ATC Interaction

    • Gaining experience with controlled and uncontrolled airspace communication

    • Practising radio telephony in different airspace classifications

      Emergency Procedure Practice

    • Simulating forced landings and engine failures

    • Revising emergency drills from the PPL syllabus

    • Managing unexpected situations without instructor assistance

      Operational Efficiency & Airmanship

    • Developing a structured pre-flight and post-flight briefing routine

    • Understanding flight cost management, fuel efficiency, and airspace management

    • Refining decision-making skills when encountering real-world challenges

Expected Timeline

  • Full-time students: Approximately 3-4 weeks (weather dependent)

  • Part-time students: Flexible, based on availability and schedule

Progression to the Next Stage

After completing the PPL Consolidation module, students will progress to the next phase of advanced flight training, the Instrument Rating (Restricted) as part of the Fastrack Programme.

This phase is crucial in ensuring pilots transition smoothly from basic PPL skills to more independent and confident flying, laying a strong foundation for commercial training.
